Don’t let the February blues affect you!

Breathe a sigh of relief, February is nearly over. Here at Your Lead Machine, we’re guessing you might have done a fair amount of complaining about the weather over the last couple of weeks, and are eagerly awaiting the blissful summer months. Who can blame you? With the promise of longer evenings, lighter mornings and sunny days off spent with family and friends, the summer months certainly seem to make working life that much easier. Even when you’re stuck in the office all day, just knowing that the sun will still be out when you eventually head home and there’s still hours of the evening left to enjoy is enough to brighten any mood. We get it, we love the summer just as much as you, but in reality each month is only as good as you choose to make it. Therefore, regardless of the weather, it is up to you to do all you can to have a positive day, positive week and positive month, whatever the season. Don’t wait around for things to start to improve on their own, instead seize every day and make your work as good as it can be! Here’s how to make it happen…

Enjoy what you do

Have a think about what attracted you to your job in the first place – there must have been something there that initially sparked your interest. Hopefully, you’ve managed to keep hold of that and are propelled along by this passion every day, but given the stresses of everyday working life, it can be easy to lose sight of this. If you find yourself in this position, lacking the excitement that was once the key to your motivation, take some time to think. Try to look back and remember just why you’re doing what you’re doing, and what it was that you once loved about going to work. Remind yourself of these things as often as you need to. If you can successfully recapture the positive mindset that you once held within your workplace, and find yourself arriving at the office each day thinking ‘today I am going to have a really good day,’ you are no doubt on to a winner!

Go the extra mile

Whatever this means within the context of your role, whether it’s getting into the office an hour early to maximise your productivity, helping out a struggling colleague or going above and beyond for a client, going the extra mile at work is always going to have a positive effect on both yourself and those around you. You will feel a huge sense of reward in knowing that you have made a difference, and subsequently you will find more enjoyment in your job role. Aim to go the extra mile as often as you can and you will be well on your way to make each day count.

We won’t pretend that it’s possible to have a good day every day, unfortunately that isn’t how life works. But, if you can successfully employ a positive mindset, enjoy what you’re doing and be prepared to go that extra mile wherever possible, we believe you will be on track to make each month a really good one. Enjoy the last few days of February and we wish you a fantastic start to March – Spring is on its way!
